Christians United for Israel Executive Director Condemns Goldstone Report

Peggy Shapiro
October 19, 2009

In his weekly report to CUFI’s 1.5 million members, David Brog, Executive Director, fires criticism at the Goldstone report for its inherent bias, intentional flaws, and hypocrisy.

Brog states the the Goldstone Report was biased before it even started as the commission which mandated it authorized only the investigation of Israel, not Hamas. The report never had a chance for fairness because the sponsoring organization was “the notorious UN Human Rights Council” whose interests are best served by diverting world attention away from their own human rights abuses and directing them at the international scapegoat: Israel.  “ This body -- like the UN itself -- has an egregious record of singling out Israel for repeated condemnation while largely ignoring genocide and human rights abuses around the world.  With nations such as Russia, China, Cuba and Saudi Arabia sitting on the council, it is no wonder that they prefer to keep the focus on Israel.”

Brog reports that even Goldstone admits that the report contains no “evidence” or war crimes and that "if this was a court of law, there would have been nothing proven."  In addition, most of the information from the report was supplied by Hamas sources.

Brog warns the the Goldstone report is not only blatantly unfair to Israel, but also poses a serious threat to other democracies which try to defend themselves from terrorists who hide behind human shields. “The report sets a standard that not only condemns Israel but, if applied more broadly, would condemn the United States, Britain and any other nation facing the difficult challenge of combating terrorists who take shelter among civilians.”

The consequence of the Goldstone report could prove disastrous for Israeli soldiers since the charge of war crimes can lead to their prosecution at the International Criminal Court in the Hague.
